Hope & pray everyone’s doing well! This post is inspired by the upcoming season of weddings and the Akshaya Tritiya. It’s a great privilege for me to be featured on the cover page of one India’s topmost magazine, You & I. Indian weddings and festivals revolve around gold and attire. It is no different for Akshaya Tritiya as well. Its an auspicious day to buy valuables in gold and silver and doing so is considered to bring in good fortune and prosperity. And we all can use a little bit of that, can’t we?
The Gold(in) Attire
Keeping Indian weddings in mind, we gave it a traditional theme. As you can see, I am wearing a banarasi sari with a gold blouse. We draped it stylishly keeping it neatly pleated all over, this was to keep the jewelry highlighted. The beautiful sari is from Manomay boutique. They are a multi brand store with a wide variety in latest and Indian fashion trends.
The Gold embellishments:
The word Akshaya means forever, and what says forever better than gold? Here, I am wearing a choker, a long necklace, beautiful jhumkis, a heavy waist band or the vaddanam, the traditional armlet or the baajuband, an enthralling nath or the nose ring and a stunning mangteeka. All the alluring jewelry for this shoot is in real gold and exclusive gems and is sponsored by Mangatrai. Founded in 1935, they are a family business of four generations and are reputed merchants dealing in pearls, diamonds and precious gems. I was awestruck with the dazzling gems and jewels and I surely know where to shop for my gold jewelry now.
Makeup and Hair
My friend and a famous makeup artist Emraan did my make up for this shoot. With his experience and extensive make-up skills Emraan has carved himself a special place in the fashion industry . Click here to get in touch with him Emraan Artistry. For this outfit he recreated a semi bridal look. Keeping the eye makeup ultra glam in shades of peach and orange, he gave it a definition with bold eye liner strokes and glitter. Contouring and highlighting the cheeks gave my face a very sharp and edgy look. We left my hair open with soft outward curls and a middle parting, this gave it an authentic feel. We have collaborated with Strand By Me (check the home page for an article on this), a luxury hair extension clip brand, for the hair extensions to give my hair more volume and length for this look.
