Dessert craving is the most common of all! What if you could prepare a mouth watering Indian sweet dish in minutes? Don’t be scared, this is super easy to make and once it’s ready I’m sure you will proudly call yourself a good cook! Shahi Tukda is one of my personal favorites and all it takes to make this is some love and 30 minutes of your time. Isn’t that doable? So let’s not waste any more of your precious time and check out the recipe:
Half litre milk
5 slices fresh white bread with trimmed edges
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Food colour/kesar flavour/Rose Petals/dry fruits- optional as per your cravings for the perfect Shahi Tukda
In a heavy bottomed pan, boil the milk and reduce until 3/4 in quantity. Add cardamom powder, saffron strands and 1/2 cup sugar.
Then add roughly chopped pieces of 2 bread slices to achieve the desired consistency of Rabri for Shahi Tukda. Let cool at room temperature and then in refrigerator for a minimum of 3 hours.
In a pan make sugar syrup by boiling water and remaining sugar. Add flavoring as required. Let cool at room temperature.
Shallow fry/Deep fry bread slices cut in triangles as per your preference until crisp and brown.
Dip the fried bread into sugar syrup and let soak for a while. Then take in a plate and pour Rabri. Garnish with chopped Dry Fruits of choice & your quick, easy and utterly delicious Shahi Tukda is ready!
