Let’s chat about the most talked-about Wedding of the Year: Virushka – Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma. First and foremost, heartiest congratulations to Anushka & Virat for this new journey. May your lives be filled with love and happiness till eternity. You guys make a really cute couple and have stood against all odds to prove your love!
I really admire their compassion and the way they managed to keep it away from the public eye to live the most treasured moments of their lives. Both of them looked like a million bucks and who wouldn’t want to get married at one the most exotic, serene and secluded place in the world? Looking at the pictures, it is quite evident that everything was planned well in advance and why not? Well it’s the wedding of the Indian Cricket captain and one of the leading actress’ of Bollywood!
Anushka’s look at all the Ceremonies: Mehendi, Engagement, Wedding, Reception-Delhi, Reception-Mumbai which were all created by the Sabyasachi Couture. Every Indian bride’s dream collection.
Anushka looked lively and chirpy choosing the brightest of colors: Yellow, Pink and Blue for her outfit! It’s a smart printed crop top along with a flairy skirt in yellow and pink horizontal stripes. She wore long danglers and let her hair sleek and flat down with a middle parting, which made it look really cool, casual and cozy! Her makeup was very subtle without any bold strokes. Well, this Look gets a full 10 for a Mehendi ceremony .
Is there a word yet which defines elegance and opulence together? If yes, it would aptly define Anushka’s look for her Engagement Party! She looked absolutely stunning in the red-maroonish Velvet Saree. She’s wearing a dazzling choker, keeping her makeup subtle except for the bold smokey eyes; she pulled it off really well. Her hair, pulled neatly into a low classy bun with middle parting and those big red roses in her bun added to the her beauty. You’ve nailed this look too, Anushka. Handsdown!
While most of the Indian brides wear the brightest colors in red, gold, green etc., Anushka’s wedding lehenga is to die for! This ethereal lehenga in the hues of Beige, Pink and Peach gets the most applause and we love the way she carried it with utmost grace. For the jewellery: She’s seen wearing a bewitching choker set with the traditional mathapatti and naath, she’s also wearing a long necklace with a beautiful stone studded pendant which make her look Queenly. Like every Indian Bride, Anushka chose to carry the dupatta over her head where the hair is tightly pulled into a bun, decorated with beautiful flowers. Some bride goals here, eh! Makeup matches the dress and entire decor, which is very warm and soft.
While there was this huge babble about PM Narendra Modiji gracing the occasion and blessing the newly weds, I couldn’t take my eyes off the regal saree Anushka was wearing. It’s an enticing Banarasi silk saree in red, the color of love and also the color of Hindu weddings. However, here I found her styling to be monotonous keeping the same middle parting in her hair, which she carried for her previous occasions too. She’s seen wearing sindoor in her maang which I totally loved. She’s also seen adorning a beautiful choker set (continuing the monotony) which reminds me of the huge set Aishwarya wore in the movie Jodha-Akbar. Makeup, Again similar: Nude lips, bold eyes.
In short: I loved each detail of her look individually but when put all together- the Saree, the Choker set, hair tied into a neat bun and the Makeup; it failed to create the magic we were expecting.
The reception party at Mumbai too was a grand affair which was attended by all the big shots of Bollywood & the entire Cricket fraternity. To me, Anushka looked a bit dull for this occasion. The lehenga is undoubtedly beautiful but doesn’t do justice to the new bride. She’s wearing a sparkling Diamond jewellery set. Yet again, her hair is flat, though not into a bun neither middle parting; but it didn’t help her stand out from her previous looks. Minimal eye makeup, subtle lipshade.
What’s with the lip color? I couldn’t see much of a color for any of the ceremonies. Every aspect of her Mumbai Reception look was kind of bland, which is not done! Come on Anushka, we want you to look your best. We know how well you can carry different looks. Remember PK? 😉 Well, of course not a pixie but you could do definitely better! The theme, elegance and magic created in the first three ceremonies is not carried over in the wedding receptions. Wish they would have worked on these looks as well 🙂
